ABOUT THE POSITION

The Virginia Coalition for Progressive Values (the Table), the VA c4 table, is seeking a passionate, strategic and entrepreneurial individual to serve as Executive Director.

 

Table Structure, Operations and Fiscal Oversight

·         Support and build function and structure of the Table

·         Oversee the development and implementation of annual table work plan, internal systems and processes needed to enable the Table to meet its strategic goals

·         Develop annual budget in partnership with executive committee and table partners

·         Responsible for performance and oversight of fundraising and fiscal management, including reporting on revenues and expenditures on a regular basis

·         Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations in concert with executive committee and legal counsel

·         Enforce table policies and ensure partners meet membership criteria

·         Plan, facilitate and prepare materials necessary for Table meetings

 

Table Partner Engagement & Relationship Management

·         Field table partnership inquiries and expand participation in table

·         Provide table partners with information, counsel, and tools necessary to advance table goals

·         Obtain necessary sign-off, consensus and votes from table partners in decision making

·         Negotiate and mediate differences and challenges between participating organizations as well as those choosing not to participate to foster inclusive and functional dialogue, reducing conflict and barriers 

  

Table Strategy and Planning

·         Think systematically and strategically; identify and address changes and trends in promoting structural solutions to advance the progressive movement in Virginia

·         Identify and prioritize the work of the Table and develop into a strategic plan

·         Lead discussion and work with key representatives of participating organizations to understand group interests, levels of commitment, and needs in order to facilitate identification of issues that can be advanced 

·         Work with table members to prioritize, develop and execute collaborative projects and campaigns

 

Fundraising

·         Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of an annual fundraising plan

·         Forge, maintain and enhance relationships with donors, funding partners, and all key organizational stakeholders

·         Conduct transparent and open, pro-active communication around all fundraising efforts with partner organizations

 

 

EXPERIENCE

·         3-5+ years of nonprofit management experience at the executive team level

·         2+ years managing and working with staff, partners and consultants in a collaborative team environment 

·         3-5+ years of diversified fundraising experience including grant writing, individual donor cultivation, and working with institutional donors, including labor organizations

·         3-5+ years of experience in nonpartisan civic engagement, political campaigns and/or issue advocacy

·         Able to maintain focus on the Table's mission while navigating strong personalities, multiple deadlines and rapid shifts in the political landscape

·         Integrity and a commitment to professional ethics, values and fairness

·         Fundraising creativity and agility

·         Strong speaking, listening and written communication skills

·         Enthusiastic, authentic, self-assured, approachable, and charismatic

·         Strategic thinker and decision maker with a knack for planning, creating systems, and driving to results. Proven ability to translate complexity and big ideas into appropriate, practical action

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-­time exempt position that requires a willingness to work evenings and weekends and travel within the state as well as regionally and nationally.  Competitive salary, including a benefits package.
