Former Democratic Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson is running for the Democratic nomination for Governor and is now hiring finance staff for his 2018 campaign.
Drew's record as Attorney General is a good indicator of the kinds of things he would like to do as Governor. Consider this:
- Drew helped negotiate a record-breaking settlement agreement with the country's largest tobacco companies. He led the charge to constitutionally protect the settlement money and ensured that it can only be spent on public health.
- Drew negotiated a settlement with then Southwestern Bell to establish the Oklahoma Educational Technology Trust, which has put millions in technology and training into Oklahoma public schools.
- Drew sued more than a dozen corporations for polluting the Illinois River Watershed. Because of Drew's work, the corporate poultry industry has changed its practices, trucking out thousands of tons of waste that was previously applied directly to land in the watershed.
Drew's campaign is now hiring fundraising staff. Prior campaign and fundraising experience is not required. This job would be an excellent opportunity for recent college/law school graduates and others who are interested in pursuing a career in Democratic politics or looking for a once in a lifetime experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Traveling and working directly with Drew
- Organizing and coordinating fundraising events
- Compiling and analyzing data, research
- Developing and implementing strategic plans
Applicants for this position must:
- Have excellent communication skills
- Be able to write clearly and concisely
- Be able to balance and prioritize multiple projects
- Have proven organizational skills
- Be personable and enjoy working with others
- Be comfortable communicating on the telephone
- Ideally, have database experience
