BOSTON AREA, MA -- Progressive Democratic Congressional Primary challenger is seeking an experienced, aggressive and highly motivated campaign manager for 2020 election cycle.
Campaign has cash on hand in six figures. Candidate has national profile, extensive & valuable relationships across tech industry, social media following in the tens of thousands, and extensive media experience from features in Huffington Post, Boston Globe, New York Times, etc. The candidate is challenging an incumbent in the Democratic primary in 2020.
The campaign is seeking an experienced Campaign Manager to serve as the structural support for the campaign. The campaign manager will craft the campaign plan and then be responsible for implementing it: the strategic plan and complementary field, finance, communications, & political affairs portions. The role will include managing staff, volunteers, and the candidate.
Given the early stage of the cycle, fundraising and strategic political planning expertise are highly favored in potential candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and oversee the day-to-day operations of the campaign including field, finance, political affairs, and communications
Craft, update and execute a strategic campaign plan with measurable goals and benchmarks
Manage/ensure execution of all necessary aspects of finance plan/campaign budget
Ensure the candidate is assisted with tasks related to fundraising/call time/events
Schedule AND manage the candidate's time properly
Manage campaign staff, volunteers and interns
Maintain relationships/communications with multiple constituency groups and political leaders
Mobilize volunteers for direct voter outreach/GOTV operation
Manage the communications operations directly: social media, digital media, earned media, etc
Draft communication, endorsement, and outreach materials as needed
Other duties as need
Ideal Experience & Skills
At least 2+ cycles of campaign management experience
Experience with Boston and eastern Massachusetts Democratic politics preferred
Previous experience in competitive Democratic primaries.
Comfort in a fast-paced work environment and ready and willing to solve unforeseen challenges with speed and efficiency.
Ability to problem-solve independently, take creative approaches to meet goals and exercise sound judgement
Excellent organizational and managerial skills, high attention to detail, works well under tight deadlines
Strong overall communication skills—not only writing and speaking skills but strong interpersonal skills as well.
Willingness to work collaboratively with supporters, staff, volunteers and community members to motivate everyone to accomplish primary objectives is required.
Proficiency using NGP, VAN, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, email marketing and website management tools
Ability and desire to work extensive hours and over weekends
Start Date: Desired start date is Q1 of 2019
