Membership Coordinator - New Virginia Majority
Location: Richmond or Northern Virginia
New Virginia Majority (NVM) is Virginia's leading civic engagement organization. We mobilize and organize voters of color and residents across the state. Our year-round approach to organizing involves mass scale voter outreach, linked to ongoing community organizing campaigns and intensive leadership development. NVM is currently expanding its team. We are seeking a conscious and skilled individual with a deep commitment to social change.
The Membership Coordinator works closely with and reports to the Development Director. S/he will help support NVM's fundraising efforts through the membership program, including the expansion of the Development Department, diversifying NVM's income sources. This individual requires strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize as well as multitask. The membership program is essential to the overall success of the organization and therefore it is imperative that the person in this role be dedicated to providing support needed by the Development Director to assist in implementing the program. The ideal candidate will be results oriented, a strategic thinker, and creative.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with staff within the digital, communications, and organizing departments in designing and implementing a grassroots membership program, coordinate membership initiatives throughout.
Manage the annual calendar for membership events, programs, mailings, and email communications, including invitations, renewals, and general communications.
Maintain membership database, including input of records, processing membership, gifts, and lists.
Draft membership materials for approval, including thank you letters, renewals, web content, emails, appeals, and special marketing materials as needed.
Work as a team member on a wide range of fundraising and engagement strategies for members, small donors, and volunteers.
Coordinate with NVM's community organizers to track member participation and leadership development that allows members to take on more roles in the organization
Develop and track a tiered incentive, or 'reward' program for members
Coordinate with NVM's community organizers to develop materials or systems for ongoing membership drives for local chapters
Qualifications:
Background and commitment to social justice work and demonstration of strong personal commitment to NVM's mission and values.
Demonstrated literacy in MS Word, Excel, & G Suite.
Must be flexible, creative and assume accountability for areas of responsibility.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, with high levels of independence and autonomy.
Daily Activities include:
Support the Development Director to manage and drive all membership program activities.
Coordinate with cross-departmental staff on a variety of activities related to the membership program.
Conduct research on membership program trends, seeking ideas to improve the membership program and experience for our members.
Salary & Benefits:
Salary range: $38,000 - $44,000
This position is full-time and is eligible for NVM's full package of benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, as well as monthly phone and transportation allowances. The salary is commensurate with experience.
