Digital Engagement Assistant
Location: Washington, DC preferred. Telecommute possible.
The "More Than Scientists" campaign is seeking a digital engagement assistant to help with the day-to-day social media activities ramping-up-to and during launch. The campaign aims to highlight the vast scientific consensus on climate change and provide a meaningful setting for scientists to communicate as "real people" with the public – outside of jargon and data.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Drafting materials (such as email templates, video descriptions and suggested social media posts).
- Carrying out social media, email and blogger outreach on behalf of the campaign.
- Ensuring seamless integration of online outreach (microsite content, email, social media), partner activities (online advocacy, content promotion, etc.), and media outreach activities.
- Generating analytics and evaluation of content and performance before, during and after launch.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience (outreach, campaign, grassroots or organizing experience, preferably in the climate/environmental movement)
- Experience in digital project management or online organizing
- Bachelor's degree - or higher
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), critical thinking, research and interpersonal skills
- Excellent judgement
- Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Google+, MailChimp and insightly
- Detail oriented, efficient, creative and possessing a strong work ethic
Salary:
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) short-term contract position with the possibility of renewal. Contract begins immediately upon hire through April 15.
