JEWISH WOMEN INTERNATIONAL (JWI) is the leading Jewish organization championing the security of women and girls and promoting healthy relationships and economic independence through innovative programs, advocacy and philanthropic initiatives.

 

JWI's PROGRAM DEPARTMENT is responsible for JWI's mission-based work and develops and implements national and community-based training, programs and resources as well as advocacy engagement tools.

 

THE MANAGER OF ADVOCACY AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS is responsible for building JWI's grassroots network, advocating for federal legislation that protects women and girls, and promoting initiatives that support women's leadership.  Our legislative initiatives include addressing violence against women and girls, gun violence prevention, sexual assault on college campuses, women's economic security, trafficking and reproductive health. The manager will represent JWI on Capitol Hill and to Administration officials to advance the organization's advocacy goals. The manager will also staff the Interfaith Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, and represent JWI in coalition work with other advocacy organizations.

 

JWI's advocacy initiatives have steadily expanded over the past few years and the manager will be tasked with continuing to strengthen our advocacy voice.

 

Major Advocacy Responsibilities:

§ Develop and oversee JWI's policy and advocacy agenda on issues including ending violence against women and girls at home and abroad, gun safety, economic security, trafficking, and women's health and promoting women's leadership;

§ Represent JWI on Capitol Hill and with Administration officials to advance legislative goals and plan briefings and public events;

§ Staff and build the Interfaith Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, a coalition of national faith groups working to end violence against women;

§ Participate in extensive coalition work with partner organizations and engage the Jewish community on our issues; 

§ Manage JWI's grassroots advocacy network by overseeing advocacy engagement strategies and drafting frequent action alerts and legislative updates;

§ Work closely with the Marketing Department to craft statements to the press, op-eds, social media content, blog posts, and campaigns.

§ Take on additional responsibilities as needed

 

 

 

 

 

Relationships:

This position reports to the Vice-President of Programs & New Initiatives and works collaboratively with the Marketing Department.

 

Qualifications:

§ B.A. degree with at least 2 years' advocacy experience;

§ Hill experience strongly preferred;

§ Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment;

§ Ability to work independently and as a part of a team;

§ Excellent written and oral communication skills;

§ Familiarity with the Jewish community;

§ Experience with grant writing a plus;
