Long Island Democratic Committee seeks a Field Director and FOs for this election cycle. This is an experienced and energetic team to be a part of, and a great way to gain experience and skills that will broaden your options for the 2016 cycle.
We will be running a coordinated campaign for our Democratic slate with multiple field offices, VAN, campaign experienced Committee support staff, and a great base of volunteers that we aim to grow for the future.
The Field Director will be expected to:
Manage and train field staff and volunteers
Set, meet, and exceed goals for voter contact, volunteer recruitment, grassroots engagement, and GOTV
Build and manage relationships with community leaders, groups, and coalitions.
Design and standardize best practices for data management.
Coordinate with the campaign team to support fundraising, political, or communication goals.
Supervise and manage an extensive paid and volunteer canvassing operation
Qualifications:
Strong candidates should be a leader with strong communication skills, and have at least two cycles of paid field experience. Qualified individuals will have experience managing and structuring voter data, and be proficient with VAN/Votebuilder. A laptop and reliable transportation is required (a valid driver's license is required).
FOs will be expected to:
Maintain ongoing reporting and communication with Field Director;
Recruit and engage volunteers, develop volunteer leaders and ensure active participation in grassroots activities;
Account for organizing goals and reaching weekly goals
Organize house parties
Engage in and organize extensive paid/volunteer outreach events including phone banking, canvassing, and other tactics
Qualifications:
Enthusiasm and a commitment to winning
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast paced work environment;
Willingness to learn, adapt and be a problem solver;
A laptop and reliable transportation is required (a valid driver's license is required).
