Multifamily Business Development Lead

The Business Development Lead will support multifamily energy efficiency retrofit activity as part of "Green Madison" to implement the Madison Program Plan.  The Madison Program Plan is the City of Madison's participation in Georgetown University Energy Prize competition among approximately fifty cities competing to reduce energy consumption.  Green Madison is characterized by a partnership between the City of Madison and Elevate Energy, along with other partner organizations including Center on Wisconsin Strategy, Brendle Group, Cool Choices, and Project Home. The successful candidate will effectively engage local stakeholders to develop local presence in the multifamily market and cultivate relationships with affordable housing owners and managers to generate a pipeline of projects for Project Home's multifamily energy efficiency services in accordance with the program goals.  This is a contract position with a one year term.

Accountability

The Lead will report directly to the Project Manager at Elevate Energy. As part of the partnership with the City of Madison, Elevate Energy and Project Home, the Lead will also coordinate directly with Project Home staff.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and host meetings with local stakeholders (such as housing officials, financing agencies, utilities, trade organizations, apartment associations, university housing and others) to develop key partnerships necessary to further support multifamily energy efficiency services.

  • Cultivate relationships with multifamily building owners, (including subsidized and unsubsidized affordable housing) and organizations that interface with property owners and managers to develop a client base and project pipeline for multifamily energy efficiency services.

  • Engage local utilities, lenders, state agencies and other potential entities including partner agencies, Cool Choices and Focus On Energy, that may finance or incentivize energy efficiency improvements to develop a full package of support for owners to move forward with energy improvements.

  • Represent Elevate Energy and Project Home's multifamily program with clients and with local energy efficiency stakeholders at meetings.

  • Communicate regular program updates and results to internal and external stakeholders.

Project Management

  • Manage prospective client engagements simultaneously.

  • Perform other duties as required in assistance to and in cooperation with Elevate Energy and Project Home staff.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required.  Master's degree very desirable.  At least 5 years' experience in multifamily housing, energy efficiency, or related field required.

  • Excellent writing and public speaking skills required.

  • BPI, CEM, HERS, and/or LEED accreditation a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and client engagements.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with high degree of accuracy.

  • Excellent organization skills.

  • Valid Driver's License.

This is a contract position with a one year term. It is not eligible for Elevate Energy's employee benefits plan.
