Position Summary
Leadership for Educational Equity seeks a bright, creative and highly-motivated Director of Digital Engagement to help develop and execute strategies aimed at enhancing LEE's digital and social presence and outreach.
 
Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Communications, the ideal candidate for this new role will be responsible for leveraging digital assets – including website, email marketing and social media platforms – to drive meaningful and measurable online engagement with LEE members, stakeholders and external audiences.

Position Location: Chicago, Illinois 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead development, implementation and day-to-day execution of LEE digital media strategy with the goal of increasing digital engagement amongst members
  • Implement and test strategies to increase engagement with members, increase brand awareness, grow LEE's audience, and present LEE as a thought-leader in the education space
  • Monitor and implement current social media trends and best practices to drive meaningful and measurable engagement with LEE members and external audiences
  • Work with internal teams to help achieve goals through digital and social assets
  • Design and execute content development strategy for website and social media use
  • Manage and optimize web content for Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Create/coordinate assets and tools for website,social and marketing materials (e.g. video content, photography, infographics, etc.)
  • Train, coach and support staff in digital marketing and communication endeavors
  • Use data to drive decisions that will increase effectiveness of email engagement, LEE website and social media assets
  • Provide ongoing strategy and program evaluation so that our work is constantly improving to serve our members
  • Develop and support email marketing strategy consistent with broader digital media goals
  • Consistently produce high quality internal/external, strategic and editorial communications content including customized member engagement messaging and digital and social media outreach materials
  • Build relationships with third-party influencers and internal business partners to meet LEE needs
  • Contribute to communications success and growth by introducing new capabilities and business processes, building network of industry contacts and participating in relevant professional organizations
  • Oversee junior staff's work products to ensure quality and consistency by setting clear expectations and deadlines, providing needed resources for project completion and monitoring progress
Requirements, Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, and Competencies 
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of work experience in social and digital media; start-up experience a plus
  • Understanding of best practices and emerging trends in digital/social media space
  • Ability to continuously innovate to offer up-to-date engagement techniques and strategies
  • Ability to create goal-aligned, metric-driven programming
  • Experience utilizing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as well as email marketing tools
  • Experience working with CMS and building/administering content in multiple CMS environments
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS and website administration a plus
  • Experience with analytics tools, including Google Analytics, as well as internal reporting tools
  • Graphic design and visual branding experience 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to set and consistently meet deadlines and commitments
  • Thrives in fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Can-do, positive attitude with team-oriented mentality, a sense of humor, and an innovative spirit
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills; a demonstrated ability to design a work plan, prioritize and meet goals, and work well under pressure and urgent timelines
  • Brings high level of integrity, quality and entrepreneurial spirit to the work
  • Experience working in a geographically dispersed organization preferred
