Position Summary
The Director of Strategic Partnerships for the Policy Leadership Team works with and supports LEE members to influence the development and implementation of education policies by identifying high-impact professional opportunities and coaching members in their pursuit of those roles. The Director will cultivate relationships and partnerships with a portfolio of assigned federal, state or local government entities and policy organizations.   They are responsible for developing policy partnerships; and executing on a strategy to create high quality professional coaching and sourcing. The Director advises and reports to the Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships.

Responsibilities:
  • Identifying and cultivating opportunities for LEE members pursuing careers in policy    
  • Creating and executing strategies to support members seeking policy roles
  • Executing on a strategy to maintain integrity of data that measures the Policy team's impact on members' career advancement.
  • Work with the Senior Director to implement a strategy to analyze and seek policy opportunities for members in various regions
  • Building relationships with high-priority external policy fellowships to increase the number of members interested in and accepted into each program
  • Create and execute a coaching strategy to support members interested in careers in education policy to create concrete next steps for each member
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Partnerships team coordinator to execute a strategy to maintain integrity of data that measures the Policy team's impact on members' career advancement.
  • Organize and execute networking events and career-focused panel discussions for members in the Policy Leadership pipeline
Requirements, Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in state or federal policy development within a legislative, executive or advocacy organization
  • Demonstrates an in depth knowledge of education policy organization landscapes (legislative, executive, or advocacy) in various regions
  • Demonstrated familiarity with various pathways to high level policy roles in various education policy organizations and the understanding of necessary competencies/experiences to advance in a policy career
  • Experience and confidence in cultivating relationships with high-impact policy and advocacy leaders
  • Highly organized - able to handle multiple and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and function effectively in a team environment (virtually and in –person) 
  • Flexible and committed to continuous learning
  • Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE's theory of change
  • Comfortable working in geographically dispersed organization setting
  • Ability to work flexible hours with occasional weekends and evenings
