Position Summary
The Manager, College Organizing (Temporary) is responsible for leading ONE's campaign execution and volunteer mobilization efforts on US college campuses through the ONE Campus Challenge program (OCC) and strategic on-campus field organizing. The Manager for College Organizing is also responsible for co-leading all aspects of the OCC program, which aims to advance the advocacy goals of ONE, engage and mobilize existing college members, recruit new ONE members and campus chapters at targeted colleges and mobilize college students to take high-bar catalytic advocacy actions and campaigns. This position reports directly to the Director, College Organizing and is based in Washington, D.C.
Minimum Qualifications
§ Bachelor's degree
§ Three years' experience of public mobilization and coordinating issue based campaigns
§ Acute political skills and knowledge of how to work on campuses and with universities
§ Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
§ Strong organizational skills with experience of working with volunteers
§ Ability to multi-task and prioritize a number of projects
§ Ability to work in a team-based, collaborative environment
§ Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
§ Ability to work long hours, including some weekends
§ Ability to travel (up to 40% of time throughout the US)
§ Genuine passion and interest for ONE's issues and priorities
§ Ability to consistently apply good judgment and make responsible decisions
§ Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times
Some Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Field Organizing
§ Manage ONE college membership lobbying strategy and direct advocacy, targeting key members of Congress through handwritten letters,
phone calls, direct engagements and member meetings in specific and assigned states
§ Plan and execute travel to campuses in targeted congressional districts to recruit new campus leaders and expand grassroots presence
§ Coordinate campus outreach with ONE's Field Director and Regional Field Directors
§ Map existing ONE campus strengths relative to target districts within assigned states and create campus field travel plan
§ Help create guides, templates and training tools to ensure results and consistency across trips
ONE Campus Challenge
§ Help to create and implement campus-specific advocacy campaigns to advance ONE's legislative and policy priorities and effectively
§ Compile and track ONE Campus metrics using website back end/point reporting system: email communication with campus leaders,
pull data from Facebook and social channels, track ONE campus staff presentations and trainings in field and remotely
§ Work with creative and digital teams on OCC website, creative and advertising needs and merchandise orders
§ Assist with ONE Campus communications including email blasts, Campus Leader emails and newsletters
§ Manage ONE Campus digital content including blog posts and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat)
§ Synthesize data, quantitative reports every week and organizational dashboards
§ Help to evaluate and report campus contribution to each national campaign
§ Submit weekly reports on campus activities
Others
§ Assist with ONE Power Summit planning
§ Perform any other duties as assigned
