Position Summary
The US Field/Communications Manager is responsible for managing ONE's field organizing database and action tracking, capturing field generated metrics and preparing reports and analysis related to ONE's grassroots advocacy. She/he will manage ongoing communications and coordination with ONE's digital team to ensure both offline and online data is collected and used to maximize organizing outcomes. The US Field/Communications Manager will also provide internal support for organizing grassroots tools and materials, regular communications tools, and reporting systems for the US Campaigns team. This position will work closely with the US Field Director, Director of College Organizing, as well as the US Digital team to help strengthen the work done by ONE's grassroots advocacy with a particular focus on data management systems, campaign material creation, and communications. We are seeking a strategic thinker who can utilize data and analytics to engage citizens across the country and build support for our priorities. This role serves as liaison to both the field and other departments helping to coordinate and streamline significant quantities of information. This position will report to the Senior Director, US Campaigns and is based in Washington D.C.
Minimum Qualifications
§ Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Political Science, or related field
§ Three years of experience organizing campaigns and managing political or issue advocacy data
§ Experience creating and implementing experiments and testing (either in the field or online) is a plus
§ Proven experience in leading long-term projects
§ A working knowledge of SQL and Excel or other spreadsheet and database software
§ Demonstrated capacity to develop and communicate campaigns and systems to staff and members
§ Ability and experience managing large databases and metric, e.g., VAN (Voter Activation Network), or other online engagement or similar CRM
§ Strong ability to utilize technology for collecting information and organizing capacity
§ Superior critical-thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills
§ Ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and performing in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with shifting priorities
§ Exceptional facilitation, collaboration, and coalition-building skills
§ Highly organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated
§ Proven track record of working collaboratively and in a team environment
§ Ability to work long hours, as needed
§ Genuine interest and passion for ONE's issues and priorities
§ Ability to consistently apply good judgment and make good and responsible decisions
§ Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times
Some Principal Duties and Responsibilities
§ § Operate and maintain ONE's field organizing database for ONE staff and volunteers to accurately track offline volunteers and advocacy actions tied to individual ONE members
§ § Assist ONE senior staff in establishing program and targeting goals, including identifying and coordinating opportunities for program data analysis
§ § Work with US Campaigns and US Digital departments to synchronize data across departments
§ § Maintain and enhance a fully operational field-reporting database, tracking and measuring both volunteer capacity and advocacy action metrics for both Field & College organizing and prepare reports for Campaigns staff and cross-department groups in a fast-paced campaign setting to train volunteers and staff to capture and analyze grassroots data and build a data-centric culture
§ § Work on ONE's US catalytic conversion goals, to get a greater percentage of ONE members to take advocacy actions that directly influence decision makers
§ § Develop methods of integrating data-driven testing, experimentation, and decision making into ONE's work
§ § Coordinate vendor relationships as they relate to targeting, lists, and organizing
§ § Provide leadership on using technology in the field for enhanced organizing efforts working with ONE's digital team as the primary connection between field and digital
§ § Build advocacy resources and tool kits for the facilitation of successful advocacy campaigns for ONE's volunteer leaders
§ § Closely collaborate with other departments, especially US Government Affairs, Digital, and Communications, on ensuring effectively executed and measured advocacy campaigns
§ § Manage internal and external communications systems to communicate, report, and share information among HQ, Field Staff, volunteer leadership, and stakeholders
§ § Facilitate the volunteer community through ONE's volunteer leader Facebook group, weekly newsletter, and monthly call
§ § Maintain the "ONE Volunteer Homebase" as a centralized location for organizing resources and campaign tool kits
§ § Perform any other relevant duties as assigned
