SUMMARY:

 

NextGen Climate is a nonpartisan organization focused on bringing climate change to the forefront of American politics. In 2015, NextGen will be working to support candidates who have demonstrated a serious commitment to taking immediate policy action to address climate change issues.

 

In Virginia, NextGen Climate will run a substantial grassroots organizing and communications program to persuade and turn out targeted voters, with a focus on young voters and college students. In two key districts, NextGen Climate will be working to register and turnout college students for pro-climate action candidates

 

The NextGen Climate Virginia campaign is seeking highly motivated candidates for the role of Campus Organizing Director to assist in running a campaign leading up to the November election. The Campus Organizing Director will work mostly on campus, recruiting and managing stipended student leaders, while running a voter registration, commit to vote, and Get Out The Vote program.

 

Job Responsibilities:

·         Oversee the execution of the grassroots organizing and voter contact programs in their region

·         Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and part-time student organizers;

·         Build and develop a large team of reliable canvassers and clipboarders by recruiting from within the campus community;

·         Meet and exceed goals for campaign performance to guarantee the campaign succeeds at persuading and turning out voters;

·         Ensure reporting protocols are followed to provide up-to-date, actionable data and information to campaign leadership;

·         Expect a demanding work schedule and be available long hours, seven days a week through the November election; and,

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

·         Strong management, communication and motivational skills;

·         Proven ability to motivate and manage a diverse group of staff and volunteers; and,

·         Strong planning skills.


Training:

Campus Organizing Directors will receive training and support from the Virginia Campaign Manager and the San Francisco HQ staff.

 

Expectations:

Potential campaign staff should have the ability to work long hours and some evenings and weekends through the November election.
