The Sierra Club, the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization, seeks a Communications Assistant for our ground-breaking Beyond Coal campaign. The Beyond Coal campaign is the most effective and best-resourced environmental campaign in the U.S., and we're looking for someone who can seize our momentum and support our bold communications strategy.
This key position supports the members of our national media team by preparing reports, assisting with the placement of advertising, organizing and coordinating press conferences, tracking media coverage, and drafting materials for use with internal and external audiences.
The ideal candidate is a proven self-starter who is resourceful, creative, passionate about a career in communications, and is eager to join a fast-paced team. In order to hit the ground running, a background in environmental or energy issues will be helpful, and previous experience with journalism, media strategy, or other media/press relations is a plus. Demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills is crucial.
