The Nassau County Democrats are in a really unique position this year. This year the top of the ticket is Madeline Singas. Madeline is our Acting District Attorney here in Nassau and running for the first time. She has been aggressively prosecuting crime for the last 24 years. Madeline's focus in being District Attorney is to continue to crack down on the rampant government corruption in Nassau and to combat the growing heroine problem here. She is running against a Republican who has never prosecuted criminal law and hasn't stepped foot in a court room in decades. This is why electing her is going to be incredibly crucial this year to make sure that she can continue her hard work and we don't have someone who is incredibly unqualified as our top prosecutor.
In additional to Madeline we will be focusing heavily on electing Democrats across the Town of Hempstead. This year is especially important for Democrats in Hempstead. The Republicans have held control over the Town for over 100 years by giving out town jobs to their political allies in exchange for keeping control. This year we actually have more registered Democrats than Republicans and we are going to take advantage of that by running an extensive field program.
Duties:
- Going door to door in communities around Nassau County to reach out to voters one on one. You would be responsible for educating people on the upcoming election and surveying them to see where they stand on our candidates and on certain issues.
Pay:
- We pay $12.00 an hour and reimburse 35c per mile driven if you use your own car.
