As a Director you will be trained in the skills it takes to establish yourself as an industry leader and authority on nonprofit fundraising at the grassroots level.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Field Work: Canvass 1-3 times a week. Perform regular check-ins with staff members. Provide in-field training for new staff, core staff and field managers. Staff training never stops.
• Recruitment: Anticipate and meet the human capital needs of your campaign. Manage requisition loads and build pipelines of qualified candidates by relying on data-backed insights and adjusting strategies to meet goals. Design and administer the framework for the digital and community-driven marketing of available positions.
• Office Culture: Create a positive and goal oriented culture in the office. Set expectations and manage performance of staff. Work to develop a strong leadership team. Our annual campaign is an opportunity to invest in long-term staff development.
• Client Communication: Provide essential context on day-to-day operations that is professional, clear, and concise. Assist in maintaining a strong and open partnership with the station.
• Administration: Track income and expenses. Collect, manipulate, and analyze data as it relates to daily and weekly operations. Ensure the maintenance, management, and security of donor and organizational data. Present reports and visualizations to guide decision making. Administer roll-out of mobile app updates.
• Staff Management: Build a team where everyone's at their best. Identify and develop leaders from within your existing staff. Manage the strategic learning goals of canvasser training programs. Ensure staff are meeting expectations and always serving as strong brand ambassadors for WETA.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
• Only candidates with a background in field outreach will be considered. Please tailor your application to highlight these experiences.
• A record of success with door-to-door and/or street fundraising
• Minimum 1 year management experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable with some irregular hours and occasional weekends
• Must have reliable transportation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Genuine enthusiasm for public media
• Eager to further the mission of Iowa Public Television at the community level
• Willingness to take initiative and tackle any task
• A team builder and engager ; someone who knows how to work closely with people, inspire energy and focus, ask the right questions, and delegate to reach goals
Directors work closely with our Operations team to manage the voice and success of both DDS and our public broadcasting partners. We're a small team of ex-political operatives and former theater performers that deploys to locations around the nation to dramatically change the landscape for PBS & NPR fundraising. We're quick on our feet, whether it's knocking doors or on the dance floor, and we're never the first to leave the party.
