Position: Nutrition and Physical Activity Project Manager
Organization: Safe Routes to School National Partnership
Employment and Classification: "At will" employment status; full-time salaried position. This is a grant-supported position that is currently renewed annually.
Location: Your home office within the continental United States

Summary: Join the Safe Routes to School National Partnership (National Partnership) and use your professional talents and pcersonal passion to advocate for healthy and equitable environments for all kids, a healthy food environment with safe walking and bicycling to and from schools, and the creation of livable, sustainable communities.
The Nutrition and Physical Activity Project Manager's primary responsibilities include overseeing the nutrition-related components of our work in support of healthy communities, and helping the National Partnership understand and advocate around the intersection between healthy eating and active living. The Nutrition and Physical Activity Project Manager will play a key role in a national initiative bringing significant policy change at the state and regional level in support of healthier eating and more physical activity in our communities.
In addition, the Nutrition and Physical Activity Project Manager will provide technical assistance to local communities around the country that are seeking to improve their built environment, and will develop publications and other resources to assist with needs in the field. Other responsibilities will include working with communities to provide technical assistance and assist with local and state campaigns, and running webinars, trainings, and presentations.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years' experience in nutrition policy, active transportation, public health, or related fields.
- Expertise in and understanding of nutrition-related public policy issues and healthy eating advocacy landscape.
- Commitment to and fluency in health equity.
- Experience with public policy campaigns; experience with providing technical assistance to help groups and individuals advance public health goals.
- Stellar research and writing skills; effective public speaker comfortable presenting in front of large groups or one-on-one.
- Project leadership experience, including developing work plans and schedules, tracking/reporting progress, managing multiple complex projects and deadlines.
- Ability to travel to meetings, conferences, and to provide technical assistance as required. Anticipated travel to be between six and ten out-of-state trips a year.
- Ability to work from home, to work independently (self-starter) and as a team member with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated, organized, flexible, adaptive, detail oriented, and creative.
- Ability to follow-up in a timely manner and to work under tight deadlines/schedules.
- Proficient with PCs and with MS Office software.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree desirable.
- Desirable: Working knowledge of one or more of these topic areas: Safe Routes to School programs, active transportation, complete streets, shared use agreements, state, regional, and local transportation governance processes, evaluation; ideally with a focus on serving lower-income communities.
Background: The Safe Routes to School National Partnership was founded in 2005 and is a network of more than 750 organizations. Our mission is to advance safe walking and bicycling to and from schools, and in daily life, to improve the health and well-being of America's children, and to foster the creation of livable, sustainable communities.
Annual Salary: This "at will" position offers a starting annual salary of $65,000 to $80,000/year, plus health insurance benefits, paid time off, and optional participation in a deferred compensation plan. A PC computer, telephone and internet access will be provided. Safe Routes to School National Partnership staff work from home offices.
