About the position:
The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund seeks a highly motivated individual with experience as a Development Assistant. The Development Assistant provides administrative support to the rest of the development team in all aspects of fundraising; corporate and individual major gifts, monthly recurring contributions, event sponsorship's, stewardship, and database management.
The Victory Fund is the only national organization dedicated to electing openly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender candidates to public office. Our educational partner organization, the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute is a nonpartisan, professional development institute dedicated to improving the leadership skills of openly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender leaders serving in public office.
Responsibilities:
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgment letters and other correspondence
- Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files
- Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed
- Continually update and correct database records
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate and individual donors
- Coordinate productions of quarterly appeal letters and year-end report
- Maintain up to date workbooks of event sponsors
- Handle all administrative details associated with the Board of Directors Development Committee
- Prepare media materials for distribution. (i.e. copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing)
- Assemble donor/monthly sustainer pamphlets for new donors
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- One to three years' experience in an administrative position, preferably in a non-profit development office
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in SalesForce preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills
