The Senior Field Strategist works as part of the PCCC electoral team, helping progressive campaigns build their field operation, conceive their field strategy, and advising on implementation of their strategy.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing general expert advice on the fundamentals of field programs like writing field plans and building a target universe of voters.
- On-the-ground support for progressive candidates, especially helping to set up strong systems for field and volunteers. However, on-the-ground support may also include everything from giving advice to candidates on best practices, hiring, polling, and messaging; helping to set up organizational and financial operations; setting up systems for managing donations; vetting consultants; and doing other work as necessary! Early in the cycle, much of the work associated with this position will fall into this category.
- Remote, expert advice for progressive candidates. This may include participating in weekly conference calls with campaigns, and maintaining a current, working knowledge of the relative progress of the campaigns. This also may include maintaining relationships with candidates, campaign managers, and field directors.
- Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the candidates and their respective campaigns, and identify areas where they need further work and improvement, including proactive assistance with polling, TV scripts, and voter contact scripts.
- Connecting candidates with organizational PCCC resources like campaign technology and training.
- Assisting with the training program, which may include leading trainings, providing hands-on support, and other responsibilities.
- Sending regular reports on progress to Electoral Director, Co-Founders, and senior staff, as well as daily reports to the direct manager.
- Other duties as needed.
Strong applicants will have:
- Progressive ideals and work history.
- At two cycles of electoral Field experience that includes serving as Field Director on a federal race.
- Strong ability to build relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Healthy skepticism of the "way things have always been done" and smart outside-the-box ideas for creating new models to win electoral campaigns.
- Strong sense of strategy.
- Strong work ethic, an ability to work in virtual workplace, and detail oriented.
