The Atlas Project – Research Analyst
The Atlas Project's mission is to support the progressive movement with the knowledge necessary for making better-informed decisions resulting in more efficient and effective programs. We achieve this by arming the community with historical elections data, sophisticated analysis and real-time updates for targeted states. We provide political campaigns and progressive organizations with a baseline set of information to work from – helping them learn from the past to make sound decisions for the future. We also aim to equip organizations in the progressive movement with the information and research they need to be effective advocates on their issues and hold bad actors accountable.
Position Summary
The Atlas Project is seeking a full-time staff member to join its research team for the remainder of the election cycle. The team conducts custom research for progressive organizations on candidates and issues, and performs an array of fact checking duties for clients and other Atlas Project departments.
Responsibilities
· Working as part of the research team to produce an array of research products
· Collecting information from the web, LexisNexis, vote databases, campaign finance reports, financial and legal records, government records, and other research databases; and identifying strategic opportunities and vulnerabilities therein
· Writing concise summaries of research findings
· Fact checking reports produced by other Atlas Project departments
· Fact checking campaign materials including poll drafts, direct mail, and video/audio scripts
Qualifications and Requirements
· 1-3 years of experience in political research (campaign, opposition, etc.)
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills
· Self-motivation, the ability to work independently
· Organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
· Experience with research databases such as LexisNexis
· Strong political instincts
