| The Research Assistant will play a large role in ensuring that the DNC Research team is effective, organized, and ready to win in 2016. While this is an entry-level position, it comes with great expectations and opportunities. This position will not only be responsible for administrative tasks but will also learn the ins and outs of political research and take on various research projects. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: • Coordinating logistics and scheduling for research department events • Preparing, logging and managing department-wide communications and files • Assisting in the compilation of research materials • Quickly reading, analyzing and formatting news clips, state and federal votes, campaign finance reports, corporate filings, public government records, legal records and related items from a variety of sources • Monitoring and extracting key points from local and national news • Simplifying very complex issues into factual and concise narratives • Performing additional administrative and research responsibilities, as directed • Late nights and weekend work hours will be required SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: • Possess strong knowledge of current events including GOP leadership, opposition and right-wing activity, U.S. Congress, and activity around the upcoming campaign cycle • Excellent written and verbal communications skills • Cunning attention to detail and strong organizational skills • Ability to take direction, ask questions and quickly learn new tasks and databases • Self-motivated with the ability to meet strict deadlines • Ability to keep up with the 24 hour news cycle • Creative thinking and desire to explore new avenues • High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel • Political training or background to understand and explain significance of events and findings • The ideal candidate would have specific knowledge of Nexis, campaign finance databases, federal and state-level vote analysis, statistical data gathering, and primary source materials • Bachelor's degree is preferred and political research, campaign, or government experience is a plus • Spanish language skills welcome The Democratic National Committee (DNC), is committed to diversity among its staff, and recognizes that its continued success requires the highest commitment to obtaining and retaining a diverse staff that provides the best quality services to supporters and constituents.
