We are looking for a Hiring Director who will find and recruit the top talent around the country who will fight Wall Street, push for environmental protections, and make sure that the wealthiest 1% pays their fair share in taxes.  The Director will be a dynamic program manager who cares about these issues, who loves making connections, and who wants to find jobs for experienced organizers.

 

Background

Together, the groups of The Public Interest Network employ a full arsenal of time-tested strategies for change. We are PIRG, Environment America, the National Environmental Law Center, Green Century Funds, and half a dozen other public interest organizations.

 

Right now, we're looking for a Hiring Director to help leverage our strong field presence, team of over 400 professional staff and our 40+ year track record of results to help identify and hire our Network's next leaders.

 

Job Description

The Hiring Director is responsible for recruiting talented and experienced candidates to take on leadership positions within the Public Interest Network, like the Clean Water Program Director with Environment America or the Consumer Director with USPIRG.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Recruitment strategy: The Hiring Director works with colleagues across the country to coordinate messaging and carry out comprehensive plans to meet our overall staffing goals.
  • Candidate outreach: The director identifies top potential candidates, conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions.
  • Networking: The Director develops strategic relationships with partner organizations, Law and Graduate Schools and serves as the public face for our recruitment efforts at conferences, career panels and job forums.
  • Tracking and data analysis: The director oversees our tracking and data analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Operations management: The director oversees daily operations of the department, including creating and managing the department's budget and overseeing systems and candidate communications.

Denver, CO, Boston, MA or Washington, DC.
 

Qualifications

Candidates for the position must have a strong commitment to public interest issues, and demonstrated experience with project management, networking and working on grassroots campaigns.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation for this position is commensurate with the amount of relevant professional experience that a candidate has. The Public Interest Network offers a competitive benefits package.
