The Montana Democratic Party is hiring Field Organizers for the 2016 election. The coordinated campaign will be the field program for two nationally targeted races, Governor Steve Bullock's re-election campaign, and Denise Juneau for Congress, as well as helping to elect Democrats throughout Montana. Governor Bullock won by less than 8,000 votes in 2012 and a highly competitive re-election is expected. Denise Juneau is a DCCC-targeted Red to Blue candidate and would be the first American Indian woman elected to Congress.
Field Organizers will be responsible for implementing an aggressive field plan and managing the GOTV operation within an assigned region of the state. Field Organizers will report directly to Regional Field Directors and be based throughout the state of Montana.
Required Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
Great interpersonal skills -- ability to listen well and communicate effectively
Strong time management and organizational skills
Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Experience volunteering or working for campaigns is a plus but it is not required
Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle.
Strong commitment to Democratic politics and ideals, and electing Democratic candidates in Montana
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implementing all aspects of the field program in assigned turf
Recruiting, training and managing volunteers and interns
Coordinating and participating in direct voter contact programs to persuade and mobilize voters
Building and managing volunteer canvasses and phone banks
Meeting weekly voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals
Representing the Montana Democratic Party and candidates in your assigned region
Salary is $3,000 per month and employer-paid health insurance is available. Positions are until November 8th, 2016.
