[jobsthatareLEFT] Organizing Director, Fairfax Votes Coalition

Organizing Director, Fairfax Votes Coalition
Location: Fairfax County, Virginia
Salary: Commensurate with experience; competitive benefits package included

Job Description
In Virginia, many citizens lose access to the ballot by missing an opportunity to update their voter registration when personal or professional circumstances require them to move. However, Virginia now has a tremendous opportunity for all eligible Virginians to vote through a new online process. Fairfax Votes is a coalition to bring this modern voter registration process not only to traditional voter registration agencies, but to all community agencies that affect our daily lives.

The Fairfax Votes Coalition seeks an Organizing Director (OD) to build grassroots support for and influence key decision-makers on this powerful opportunity to expand democracy. Working with the Coalition Campaign Manager, the OD will perform the following tasks:

-- Assist Campaign Manager in meeting program goals for the campaign
-- Canvass community events throughout the county to build a list of supporters
-- Recruit, train, and coach volunteer teams of canvassers on behalf of the campaign
-- Engage supporters who have been personally affected by voter registration barriers to tell their story and build a powerful narrative for change
-- Speak on behalf of the campaign at community and local organizational meetings
-- Ensure data integrity on all levels
-- Other duties as assigned - this is a highly dynamic campaign and responsibilities can shift depending on strategic opportunities and priorities

Qualified candidates will have the following attributes:
-- Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
-- Previous organizing experience, including holding volunteers accountable, preferred
-- Great energy and a positive, outgoing attitude
-- Able to communicate with diverse communities and leaders, both one on one and in groups
-- Able to work irregular hours and weekends
-- Possess a strong commitment to building an electorate that reflects the full Virginia population

To apply:
Submit a resume and cover letter via email to mmorris@newvirginiamajority.org. The position is open until filled. Qualified applicants should be prepared to interview and start as soon as possible. Access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license is required.
