PIRG Campus Action needs a Recruitment Director.  PIRG Campus Action works to make a difference on environmental and social issues, from climate change to college affordability. Every year, the Recruitment Director will be instrumental in hiring dozens of full-time organizers to run campaigns on these issues and more on college campuses around the country. On college campuses in California, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Oregon and other states, the PIRG Campus Action team helps motivated students harness their idealism and energy to win real results on the issues. We have helped students win results like passing a landmark global warming bill in Massachusetts, convincing 16 New Jersey communities to go on record against Citizens United, and winning a ballot measure that will bring high-speed rail to California.

 

The Recruitment Director will find people who will fuel the power of this student activism, win positive change, and build for even more victories in the future.

 

Job Description


The Recruitment Director will recruit talented, passionate organizers to join PIRG Campus Action. The director is in charge of hiring candidates, drafting and creating visibility materials, running candidate searches, and planning interviews and offers that we make along the way.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

·      Visibility: the Director will come up with an online and on-campus strategy for attracting applications, will help create the materials we need to tell our story in a compelling way to organizers.

·      Recruitment strategy and networking: The Director creates and coordinates our overall strategy, with a heavy emphasis on networking and outreach to college campuses, faculty, and college staff. The director aggressively pursues new and innovative recruitment ideas, and coordinates the department's efforts with our network's recruitment projects around the country.

·      Candidate outreach: The director identifies top potential candidates, interviewing them and assisting with final placements. The director also attends conferences, events and career fairs on behalf of PIRG Campus Action, and helps train our interviewers. 

·      Tracking and analysis: The director oversees our tracking and analysis of recruitment data to identify trends and opportunities.

·      Operations management: The director oversees daily operations of the department, including creating and managing the department's budget and overseeing systems and candidate communications.

Qualifications

The Recruitment Director must be a top-notch recruiter, able to identify and engage candidates from college campuses, and career fairs and other networking events.

 

Candidates for the position must have a strong commitment to campus organizing, environmental and/or equality issues, and demonstrated leadership experience.

 

Candidates must have 3 or more years of relevant professional experience, post-college. Experience with political organizing, issue advocacy and/or organizational development is a must, but other relevant experience may include work in political, policy, legal, journalistic or government settings. Advanced degrees, including a J.D. or master's degree in related fields, may count toward a candidate's professional experience.

 

A minimum two-year commitment is required.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation for this position is commensurate with the amount of relevant professional experience that a candidate has. PIRG Campus Action offers a competitive benefits package.
