THE ROLE
As a MA Short-Term Organizer you will be responsible for organizing constituents in and around Massachusetts. You will work to ID supporters and turn them out on election day. You will be responsible for canvassing, phone banking, and managing volunteers. The MA Short-Term Organizer reports to the Deputy State Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities of the MA Short-Term Organizer will include but are not limited to:
- Going door to door in the community to ID supports.
- Phone Banking voters to ID support
- Managing and training volunteers
- Managing data; submitting and analyzing organizing reports
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should enjoy working in a dynamic, results-oriented environment in which expectations are high for both the quality and speed of work. In addition, they should have the following:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience);
- Two years of organizing or campaign experience strongly preferred;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, including an ability to manage and multi-task many projects;
- Strong problem solving skills;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team;
- Excellent written and oral communications skills;
- Flexible schedule, including the ability to work late evenings and weekends, as needed;
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office; especially Outlook, Powerpoint, Word and Excel;
- Demonstrated commitment to education, low income communities, and communities of color; prior knowledge of Massachusetts school system a plus;
- Spanish speakers strongly encouraged to apply.
PAY AND PERKS
- $15/hr plus overtime
- FES will be looking to hire staff post election into full-time organizing positions.
- Organizers will participate in weekly professional development sessions
