CANVASSER POSITION

Community Voices Heard (CVH) is seeking multiple paid canvassers for a special project in the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. This is a temporary, short-term position. Field canvassers will be part of a dynamic team, going door to door, speaking with New Yorkers about Participatory Budgeting in New York City (PBNYC). Participatory Budgeting, also known as The People's Budget, gives real decision making power to residents in deciding how $1 million dollars or more will be spent to improve their community.   

 

Community Voices Heard (CVH) is a member-led multi-racial organization, principally women of color and low-income families in New York State that builds power to secure social, economic and racial justice for all. We accomplish this through grassroots organizing, leadership development, policy changes, and creating new models of direct democracy.

Responsibilities include:

• door-to-door canvassing
• meeting daily canvass goals
• identifying and persuading allies
• recording results while placing a high expectation on accuracy of data

 

Qualifications:

• Be a CVH member
• demonstrate problem-solving skills
• highly resourceful and demonstrate flexibility
• excellent communication skills
• able to work outside in a team or solo
• detail oriented
• sense of humor
• Must commit to at least 4 days a week

 

*Bilingual (Spanish) speakers needed!
