[jobsthatareLEFT] National Field Staff, People's Climate Movement (Short-Term: ASAP to May 12th) - Washington, DC

The People's Climate Movement (PCM) is staffing up for our 100 Days Mobilization to resist the Trump Administration's attacks on our planet, communities and people. We are looking to build a strong staff team that can help build out a powerful and effective mobilization that both defends the things we love, but also provides a space and opportunity for people and communities to come together to strategize, learn from one another and go back to their communities to lead to organize over the next four years.

The People's Climate Movement is an innovative formation that includes some of the country's most effective environmental and progressive organizations, powerful local front-line and community groups, faith organizations, arts and cultural workers, labor unions, youth organizations and community leaders.  Growing out of the massive NYC march in 2014, we have been working to strengthen and expand the climate movement and connect to struggles for economic and racial justice.

PCM is currently looking for a DC-based national field staff available to begin short-term contract work within one week of hire to address the following needs:

  • Support planning and promotion of satellite marches across the country.
  • Support local coalition building work to increase turnout for the DC march
  • Support and develop hubs for individuals/groups that want to promote march turnout based on issue area or constituency groups.
  • Support planning for the week of action and other activities during the lead-up to the 100 Days Mobilization.

Ideal candidates will have experience planning large-scale mobilizations and/or distributed actions. We are looking for a mid-career professional with at least 4-6 years of experience in direct organizing experience working in the field, ideally including national field management experience.  Top candidates will possess a strong background in working with organizational leaders and community activists, experience in mass mobilization and direct action, base-building and community organizing, and coalition building. A background in digital organizing would be helpful but not required.  Spanish language skills would be good but not necessary for the position.

This position will be based out of Washington, DC. This position is a contract position and will end on May 12th, 2017. Salary is DOE.

People of color, women, and LGBTQ are strongly encouraged to apply for these positions.

Please submit a cover letter stating why you are interested in working with PCM and your resume to: Debra Erenberg, PCM National Field Coordinator. Please send to pcm100days@gmail.com.  Put "National Field Staff" in your subject line.
