Position Description:
• A local retailer is looking for qualified individuals to assist with gathering signatures for a statewide petition to promote a small business in Somerville, MA. This job will entail speaking with passers-by to encourage them to sign a petition in support of a popular business in their community- no sales or asking for money. Signature gatherers may work as many hours as they choose within the timeframe specified by supervisors, typically late afternoons/evenings on weekdays and all day during weekends. Compensation:
• $12 per hour
• An additional $1 per valid signature
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with supervisor and other signature gatherers to collect signatures from passers-by
• Learn and communicate campaign message with the community
• Maintain a positive and friendly attitude
Qualifications:
• Comfortable speaking with strangers
• Ability to articulately communicate ideas
• Capable of spending hours outdoors speaking with others
• Creativity and flexibility
• Must be able to work well independently and part of a team
Previous experience in canvassing or outreach helpful, but not required
