The New American Leaders Project (NALP) is leading a movement for inclusive democracy by preparing first and second generation Americans to use their power and potential in public office. Headquartered in New York, NALP is a national, nonprofit organization with programs across the country. We have a strong track record of recruiting, training and supporting New Americans to run for public office. We also work with New American elected officials across the country who are at the frontlines of creating transformative policy environments for educational, economic and political equity.
We are seeking a Program Assistant who will work closely with the Director of Political Programs and other senior staff on our signature leadership development programs. The Program Assistant will be a key liaison between the organization and our alumni and provide critical support on programs, data management and evaluation.
As Program Assistant, you will be responsible for:
• Overseeing the application process for participants in political training programs, including creating and managing web-based forms and applications to streamline recruitment, selection and placement.
• Supporting travel, accommodation and catering logistics for trainings and events for alumni and elected officials.
• Compiling accurate data on program participants' demographics and other characteristics.
• Maintaining the databases of program participants and providing regular updates to NALP staff to support fundraising, communications and brand building.
• Assisting with the development of program evaluation to ensure high standard of program delivery.
• Create and manage systems to test and measure impact of programs and improve processes.
If you have:
- Passion for serving immigrant communities and building a multiracial democracy.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make calls to a wide variety of people, such as community partners and elected officials, with comfort and confidence.
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to set and meet deadlines.
· Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, including experience with large spreadsheets, mail merges and presentation tools.
· Knowledge of NationBuilder or other CRMs.
· Self-starter who happily takes initiative on individual projects, but also works well in cooperative decision-making settings.
· Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of related experience.
Preferred:
· Experience with social statistical software and data management.
· Fluency in electoral politics and knowledge of local and state campaigns.
