Summary
The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) is seeking to hire a Deputy National Finance Director immediately to oversee the organization's fundraising with national progressive groups and traditional Democratic constituencies.   As a member of the finance team, this Deputy National Finance Director will take responsibility for expanding and managing a growing portfolio of donors.   

In coordination with the DAGA National Policy Director, the Deputy National Finance Director for Progressive and Democratic Groups will:

·       Support a series of on-going policy-based working groups, including, but not limited to:

o   Women's Healthcare and Reproductive Rights;

o   Labor Unions and Working Families;

o   Environment and Green Energy;

·       Lead fundraising for the DAGA 1881 Initiative (Click here for DAGA 1881 description) supporting the recruiting, training, and electing of women candidates to the office of Attorney General

·       Work with DAGA leadership to develop new working groups on current or emerging issues of importance related to Healthcare, Technology, the LGBT community, Immigration, or Voting Rights to name a few.   

For the Deputy National Finance Director, this role will include identifying and closing new revenue sources via potential partner organizations, through corporate giving, and from individuals as well as managing relationships with the organizations or individuals for DAGA.

In addition to the fundraising aspects of the role, the Deputy National Finance Director for Progressive and Democratic Groups is responsible for these areas:

1.     Maintain a strong knowledge of relevant policy issues for each working groups and individual donor;

2.     Manage the invoicing and/or collection process for each working group prospect or member;

3.     Provide counsel to the National Finance Director, Executive Director, and DAGA Steering or Policy Committee on engagement and participation;

4.     Support the Policy Director in the development and execution of a calendar of meetings for each working group;

5.     Work with the DAGA events team and senior leadership to develop content and initiatives around DAGA conferences and supplemental events.

 

The ideal candidate will have expertise in political fundraising, donor prospecting, and relationship management.  Campaign and/or Policy experience will be a plus.  S/he must also be able to leverage relationships strategically and advise on outreach by the Executive Director or Members of the DAGA Steering Committee to prospects and partners.

A strong understanding of current policy initiatives and a commitment to electing Democrats to office is a must.

General Responsibilities

Fundraising
The Deputy National Finance Director is responsible for fundraising and development activities related to Progressive and Democratic Groups. The Deputy will forge new relationships and solidify existing ones to maximize the organization's visibility, impact, and financial resources. Further, the successful candidate will be a key fundraiser for the organization, focused on donor prospecting, cultivating new donors and funding relationships, and making direct solicitations.

Digital Campaigns
The Deputy National Finance Director may be asked to work with the Communications Director on specific digital communications as they relate to policy working groups.

Membership
The Deputy National Finance Director oversees the fundraising aspects of the working groups program and ensures that accurate, timely, and appropriate communication with the portfolio of donors meets the standard within the fundraising team and DAGA. S/he must manage fulfillment of benefits and provide regular updates on content and membership feedback.

Events
The Deputy National Finance Director must work with the DAGA team to design events and programming which maximize revenue and stewardship efforts.

Qualifications

·        5+ years of political and/or advocacy fundraising experience

·        Strong experience in managing donor solicitations with a principal and committed fundraising board

·        Experience in relationship management and strong knowledge of progressive movement stakeholders and funders

·        Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills

·        Flexibility to work in a fast-changing political environment

·        Must display strong confidentiality, maturity, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment

·        Self-starter, able to work independently when needed, and entrepreneurial

·        Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree a plus.
