2018 is shaping up to be a great opportunity to gain seats for the Democratic Party in the Iowa Senate. The Iowa Senate Majority Fund is looking to expand our staff for the 2018 elections.
Working at the Iowa Senate is an opportunity to develop a top-tier state legislative fundraising operation and work with a winning team. The Iowa Senate Majority Fund is accepting applications for the position of Finance Assistant. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Maintain fundraising database; tracking contributions and disbursements, updating donor information, uploading giving history, etc.
• Donor research & outreach
• Prep & staff calltime for Leadership team
• Assist members with setting up both individual and PAC fundraising events
• Assist with processing fundraising letters, invitations, and thank-you notes
• Assist with SMF event planning and hosting.
• Assist with drafting email solicitations for Senate Majority Fund and members
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter, with an interest in progressive politics and political fundraising. Other qualifications:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Docs
• Must be willing to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
• Commitment to the values and ideals of the Democratic Party
• The ability to handle both phone and face-to-face interaction with supporters, partners or donors, and the ability to interact professionally with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds
Prior political fundraising experience is not necessary.
