Summary:
The Washington Center for Equitable Growth is a nonprofit, nonpartisan grantmaking and research center dedicated to exploring the relationship between economic inequality and economic growth in the United States. The successful candidate will lead Equitable Growth's work within their area of policy expertise and contribute to the organization's work across all aspects of economic inequality, economic growth, and public policy. Equitable Growth currently has a single opening and is seeking candidates with expertise in labor markets and wages.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategic vision for Equitable Growth's work in the incumbent's area of policy expertise.
- Undertake independent projects and partnering with other scholars to research related issues, particularly as they relate to economic inequality, economic growth, and public policy.
- Select topics and provide intellectual leadership for one to two major academic and policy conferences, workshops, or similar events per year.
- Attend academic conferences and maintain relationships with the academic community and other professional economists and policymakers.
- Work with Policy Director and Equitable Growth teams to elevate Equitable Growth research to a broader, policy-oriented audience.
- Represent Equitable Growth to the media, policymakers, and other outside stakeholders.
- Solicit and review proposals for Equitable Growth's annual competitive grant program and commissioned research series.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in economics or related field strongly preferred; advanced degree required.
- Strong understanding of the academic community.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of federal economic policymaking institutions, including Congress, executive branch agencies, the White House, and the Federal Reserve required; familiarity with state-level policymaking preferred.
- Proven ability to communicate evidence-based policy guidance to key stakeholders, including policymakers, advocates, and the media.
