Research Intern
End Citizens United's Mission: To combat Big Money in politics and dismantle our rigged political system by electing campaign finance reform champions and passing state ballot measures. These champions will work toward overturning Citizens United, ending unlimited money in politics, and ending Dark Money. We'll work towards the mission by: electing pro-reform candidates, raising the issue of money in politics as a national priority, and using grassroots membership to demonstrate political power on the issue of money in politics.
Reports to: Research Director/Deputy Research Director
Job Summary: The Research Intern reports to the Research Director/Deputy Research Director and is responsible for assisting in executing original research efforts for the organization. These efforts will include but not be limited to: daily monitoring, including media and social media monitoring, helping with the creation of campaign finance centric research on targeted candidates, and assisting the research department meet the research needs of other ECU departments. Interns will also assist with ECU administrative responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
o Conduct daily monitoring of candidates:
§ Monitoring of TV and radio activity in targeted races, as well as social media monitoring
§ Write daily bullets on target candidates and issues
§ Help maintain up-to-date background documents on candidates and campaign finance reform issues
o Assist with research projects needed for ECU's priority races (Senate and House)
§ Assist with research on our targets' policy positions and overall record related to money in politics, assist in executing targeted research projects that have hard deadlines
o Assist with ECU administrative needs
§ Help finance department assist ECU members and donors who call in to the office
§ Assist with any other organizational needs that arise.
