Summary:
The Washington Center for Equitable Growth is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research and grantmaking organization that engages with academics and policymakers to better understand and address the effects of economic inequality in the United States. We have an immediate opening for a Special Assistant to provide administrative and logistical support for Equitable Growth's wide array of content and programming connecting the dots between the scholarly and policy communities. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail- and task-oriented, and able to prioritize.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and logistical support for Equitable Growth's Policy, External Relations, and Communications teams, as well as others as needed, including:
- Prepare for internal meetings, including setting the agenda and taking notes; participate directly in meetings and follow up as needed
- Process reimbursements and book travel
- Manage team files and lead other administrative processes
- Assist with scheduling needs of directors and others as needed
- Assist in coordinating Hill visits and conducting outreach
- Prepare background memos for meetings, conferences, and speaking engagements attended by Equitable Growth staff
- Track Equitable Growth's engagement opportunities
- Support Policy, External Relations, and Communications staff on Equitable Growth's public and private convenings, with duties including but not limited to preparing background memos, printing and collating materials, providing day-of speaker management, and assisting with other event logistics
- Serve as a liaison between teams to ensure coordination across the organization; anticipate team needs
- Serve as back up for other assistants as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, follow through, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
- Strong research and analytic skills
- Familiarity with economic policy issues
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); willingness and ability to learn additional data software as needed (i.e. Salesforce)
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion
- Bachelor's degree or 1–2 years of relevant experience (relevant internships are considered experience)
- Familiarity with 501(c)(3) institutions strongly preferred
- Commitment to Equitable Growth's organizational mission and goals
