[jobsthatareLEFT by GAIN] Communications Associate - The Parkside Group (NYC or Albany)

The Parkside Group is a full-service public affairs, political consulting and government affairs firm based in NYC and Albany. We are seeking a Communications Associate to manage a growing portfolio of public relations clients and to advance their goals by creating meaningful press coverage.

The ideal candidate for this position will have 2-5 years experience as either a press staffer for an agency or elected official, a journalist, or as a public relations professional. Essential qualities you'll need to succeed in this role include:

Motivation: You will be the main point of contact for some clients, responsible for producing results and updating the client week-to-week. We don't need someone who will wait to be told to jump into action.

Persistence: Breaking through and actually landing press stories requires hard work and persistence. You'll take the time to meet journalists and build relationships, and you'll read their work to know what's likely to grab their interest. You'll be thinking about new angles when your first attempt doesn't get a response.

Strong Writing Skills: You'll be crafting Op-Eds for leaders in politics, activism, and industry. You'll be capturing the informal voice of a small business owner in one moment and then writing a technical statement for a subject matter expert in the next.

Interest in all things New York: This job will require you to learn about major issues before city and state government and leading trends in business and advocacy. You will need to soak it up - and become fluent in speaking and writing on whatever subjects cross your desk.

Responsibilities

- Serve as client representative for portfolio of public relations clients

- Create pitches, op-eds and other written materials and work tirelessly to generate coverage

- Organize and attend press conferences on behalf of clients

- Manage social media for the Parkside Group and clients as needed

This position is an excellent opportunity for the right person to come in and make a name for themselves. We want someone who will not only do a great job with our current clients - but who will be eager to take our public relations practice to the next level.

The Parkside Group is an equal opportunity employer and we strongly encourage women, minority, LGBTQ and/or disabled candidates to apply.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00 to $60,000.00 /year
