[jobsthatareLEFT by GAIN] The Fairness Project is hiring an Operations Manager (Washington, DC)

Description

The Fairness Project (TFP) is taking on our broken economy and our broken political system by going straight to voters using ballot initiatives to make significant gains for working people in America. We combine the best of nonprofit-start-ups and political campaigns with immediate impact on people's lives. Since we launched in 2015, we've tested and proven a model that has directly changed the lives of over 15 million people, even when our politics and economy are failing them. In our first three years, we've already raised wages for 10 million workers, putting over $7 billion in workers' pockets and leading the work to expand Medicaid in four states, where expansion was assumed to be impossible.

To grow our impact, TFP seeks an amazing Operations Manager. The Operations Manager works closely with and reports directly to the Executive Director. This position is a great opportunity to have visibility into the workings of a successful 501(c)(4) organization and influence and support almost all day-to-day needs. Working both independently and in coordination with The Fairness Project's staff, the Operations Manager will oversee multiple projects at all times and ensure that the organization is equipped to achieve our goals in 2020 and beyond.

The ideal candidate has a "sì se puede" mindset, is excited about our mission and impact, appreciates the value of getting the details right, and loves solving problems in a fast-paced environment. This position is ideal for an individual who is eager to learn and excited by the challenge of working for a new and innovative non-profit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the Executive Director's internal and external meetings, calls, travel, and workflow, including prioritizing meetings based on organizational priorities, reporting expenditures, and preparing the Executive Director's daily schedule
  • Organize the Executive Director's contacts and outreach, including preparing daily call sheets for political and coalitional outreach and drafting correspondence for the Executive Director's external communications
  • Liaise with consultants, campaigns, partners, and TFP staff regarding contracts, compliance, and scheduling, including overseeing the execution of grant agreements and contracts with campaigns, vendors and consultants
  • Draft and review internal and external materials as needed
  • Maintain the Executive Directors' and organization's files, including meeting notes, contracts, and correspondence
  • Facilitate and coordinate organization-wide projects as needed
  • Manage TFP's internship program
  • Manage office supplies and equipment
  • Other duties depending on needs that arise on a project-by-project basis

Qualifications:

The Operations Manager should possess and demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • A deep commitment to economic fairness and enthusiasm to see organizational success
  • 1-plus years of experience in operations or assistant-based work, preferably in a non-profit or campaign setting
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A willingness to take risks and learn from mistakes is required (and encouraged)
  • A sense of humor is useful, but not required
  • A sense of discipline and determination in executing on short and long-term goals
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects at once
  • Ability to work well with others

The ideal candidate loves to learn and work with others as a team; is wildly curious and motivated; and is passionate about improving people's lives by fighting against economic inequality in America.

Benefits

Compensation and benefits are competitive. We offer fully paid for health, dental, and vision and a very generous paid time off program as well as cold brew coffee on tap and other office perks. The Fairness Project is headquartered in Washington, DC.

To apply, please submit an organization and role specific cover letter and resume through Workable. Submissions without a cover letter will not be considered. No phone calls, please.
