WHO WE ARE:
DigiDems positively impacted Democratic outcomes in the 2018 election cycle by leveraging top-tier technologists in critical races. In 2019, we're putting DigiDems into the field to implement best practices in the tech space, optimize platforms and opportunities, and utilize resources fully.
DESCRIPTION:
The Campaign Tech Specialist acts as an on-site technology liaison and administrator for a political campaign, state Democratic party, or a progressive-minded cause. You will be assigned to one of these groups during the 2019 campaign cycle and work directly with them on all aspects of their campaign, but especially providing expertise and guidance on technology implementation and execution to ensure Democratic victories in races at all levels of government.
Deployed to key races, DigiDem Campaign Tech Specialists (DigiDems) act as resources for our clients. As such, DigiDems will be supervised day-to-day by the campaigns (campaign manager/staff) to which they are assigned, with support offered by DigiDem HQ.
Must be passionate about the Democratic agenda and willing to roll up your sleeves, be adventurous, work long hours, and temporarily relocate to support your campaign or organization. You will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to fundamental aspects of the campaign, beyond technology. Taking initiative, finding a niche, and building strong relationships play big parts in all of this as you move from success to success across a variety of projects and responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, you will be on-site to assist with best practices, implementation, integration and execution for a range of projects which may include many of the following:
Support (deploying, setting up, operating, troubleshooting) for core tech platforms used by the campaign/campaigns.
Provide training to staff and volunteers on tech tool and tech support to local campaigns.
Assist in the execution and measurement of Social media and advertising, website (creation/design/hosting), and digital communication strategies.
IT Administration and Security, including desktop and mobile device security and management.
Data analysis using industry-standard tools to produce actionable results and reports.
Advise campaign leadership on how to use technology as effectively as possible. Advocate the use of technology, when appropriate, based on local data and comparisons across all DigiDems.
Identify enhancements that could make big improvements. Document and communicate ideas to technical staff and partners.
In addition to technical tasks you need to be prepared to help with whatever non-technical tasks are required to get candidates to 51%.
Collaborate and share best practices, biggest learnings with your fellow DigiDems through chat, email, and forum discussions.
Analyze and document the effectiveness of technology, contributing to a post-mortem analysis.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS:
Temporary Assignment: This position is classified as full-time temporary employment. It will conclude 2-3 weeks after the conclusion of the election(s).
Placement/Location will be determined by the Company: Placement is at our discretion but we will consider all variables involved, though we cannot guarantee a specific location.
Transportation: A valid driver's license and owning a vehicle you are comfortable driving, sometimes long distances at a moment's notice, is your responsibility and is a requirement of the position.
Though we deploy DigiDems to Democratic races across the country, prior campaign experience is not a requirement. There is, however, an alignment to Progressive culture and values that is imperative and will be discussed during the interview process.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree, intensive Bootcamp training, and/or experience in web development, software engineering, product management, business administration, analytics or similar.
Ability to analyze and solve problems independently.
Ability to be a positive presence in a constantly evolving environment where process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm.
Demonstrated use of technology to pursue your passions and to creatively solve real-world problems for yourself or others.
Familiarity with various office suites like Office 365/G-Suite (Administration experience of these suites is a plus!)
Expertise, Focus or Training
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated either expertise, focus, or training in at least one of the following technology disciplines:
IT Configuration & Management - Skill in general IT planning, execution, and maintenance.
Data Analytics - Collecting and analyzing data to evaluate operations and processes and to facilitate complex decision-making for the organization to which you are assigned. Abilities at all levels are helpful, from <high end> to SQL to spreadsheet mastery. (A background in statistics or mathematics could be a potential fit here.)
Social or Digital Media - Developing and executing digital strategies to persuade voters, attract volunteers, fundraise, grow online/social presence and promote candidates, the party, and events.
Front/Back End Development - while this position will usually not include any development of products, coding ability is a plus as it can be useful in creating scripts or utilities to quickly solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideally you should have several years experience in a technology role either as a career or as a combination of a career and supplemental education.
A role which required dealing with people on a near-constant basis, especially ones in which your role was helping them troubleshoot any kind of issues (technical or non-technical). Examples: Bartending, IT Support, Customer Service.
Self-direction, leadership, and demonstrated people skills will make you stand out.
Previous experience on a Democratic campaign or with a Progressive activist group, especially one in which you used technology for Fundraising, Emailing, Canvassing or Texting.
Previous experience with onsite consulting will prepare you for what lies ahead.

We provide the option of enrolling in an employee medical coverage benefit plan, which includes availability of dental and vision plans for both the primary employee as well as applicable dependents.
Time off is dependent on the campaign and tasks performed.
We do not provide relocation support, nor do we have the ability to sponsor visas or permits at this time.
