Inslee for America is seeking a Ballot Access and Delegate Director.


Position Summary: The Ballot Access and Delegate Director will develop and implement a plan to secure ballot access for the Inslee for America campaign. The Director will also develop and manage a plan to secure the delegates needed to win the Democratic nomination. The Director will develop and manage a plan for securing placement on each state's primary ballot, for delegate outreach and recruitment and for aligning both efforts with primary states' political plans. Additionally, the Director will manage the coordination of ballot access and delegate outreach with the Early States and Political Engagement teams. To succeed, the Ballot Access and Delegate Director will need to be self-motivated, experienced in campaign management, political outreach, legal research, field and grassroots organizing and staff management. The job duties are dynamic and will change as priorities and strategy evolves. Applicants with significant prior campaign experience and presidential campaign experience will be given preference.


Ballot Access and Delegate Director job responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a ballot access and delegate outreach and recruitment strategy
  • Hiring staff and a legal team to assist with the planning and implementation of the program
  • Managing staff, legal research, and vendors
  • Political outreach and engagement with stakeholders
  • Overseeing field and grassroots organizing, when necessary
  • Coordinating with campaign leadership on communications, digital, and voter contact strategies as it relates to ballot access and delegate outreach and recruitment
  • Managing relationships with Democratic Party leadership
  • Developing internal tracking and reporting systems
  • Travel is required
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum requirement and job skills:

  • 8+ years experience in campaign management, and some experience in legal management and delegate engagement
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong planning and strategic skills
  • Staff management experience, specifically grassroots organizing and political staff management
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in VAN, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs
  • Strong passion for progressive causes and issues – especially climate change.
  • Enthusiasm for political campaigns and ability to execute tasks within a team dynamic
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, learn quickly, and accept constructive criticism

Salary: Ranges between $7500 to $9000 per month, and is commensurate with experience.


Location: Job is based in Seattle, Washington. Travel for the position is required.
