[jobsthatareLEFT by GAIN] JOB: Office & Events Coordinator, Analyst Institute

Apply Here

Why should you become Analyst Institute's Office & Events Coordinator?

In this role, you will:

  • Gain valuable experience. As an entry-level position, this is an opportunity to gain insight into progressive politics and the inner workings of a business, as well as exposure to folks across the progressive ecosystem.

  • Work with awesome people. Analyst Institute is a unique and powerful (albeit quiet) part of the progressive space. You'll be a critical member of our 20-person, tight-knit team.

  • Have good work/life balance. The work is pretty steady in this position -- it may ebb and flow slightly, but you'll have good balance. We also offer a great benefits package.

What's the day-to-day of the role?

The mission of our Office & Events Coordinator is to make Analyst Institute run like a well-oiled machine. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the office, including answering the phone, ordering supplies, receiving mail, and coordinating with building staff for office, tech, and event needs.

  • Administering the hiring of new staff and onboarding them to our systems, workflow, and culture; offboarding staff when they move on to new positions outside of Analyst Institute.

  • Assisting with administration of payroll and employee benefits.

  • Handling accounts payable and receivable, including sending invoices, paying bills, and coordinating with clients and vendors on other matters.

  • Planning the logistics for organizational gatherings, outings, and retreats.

  • Providing logistical support for external events, including venue and catering selection, ensuring technical needs are met, preparing materials, and coordinating day-of roles.

  • Other administrative and support tasks as assigned.

What's the team's mission?

Analyst Institute helps Democratic, progressive, civic engagement, and social justice organizations determine what really works in their mobilization, electoral, issue-based, and advocacy campaigns by partnering on research that uses rigorous, scientific methods. A core part of our mission is to facilitate the sharing of evidence across the progressive ecosystem, which involves hosting large convenings on a regular basis. We partner on research with and convene labor unions, environmental groups, racial justice organizers, LGBTQIA rights advocates, candidates running for office, and many more. We believe that collaboration across organizations is needed to improve our tactics, methods, and techniques, and that for the progressive movement to be successful, we need to continue to learn from one another and work together.

Are you a good fit?

You'll be perfect for this role if you are:

  • Progressive. AI's staff is committed to political and social change, and our mission fires us up for hard work.

  • Tenacious. You are a problem-solver who sticks with your projects, even the hard and rote ones, until they are done. We don't micromanage, so you'll need to keep yourself on track and use your time wisely.

  • Detail-focused. You pay attention to details and double- and triple-check your work to catch mistakes.

  • Computer savvy. You are quick to learn new systems and have worked with spreadsheets and word processing systems. You may even have experience with human resource information systems (we use Gusto) and/or Quickbooks.

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. While a lot of the time you'll work independently to keep our operations humming, you will also need to clearly and concisely communicate with staff, partners, and vendors.

  • Hungry to learn. We will help you stretch to take on tasks you haven't done before, with training and support.

At Analyst Institute, we know that the diversity of our team — in background, identity, thought, and experience — is one of our greatest strengths. We're an equal opportunity employer, and we strongly encourage people of color, people with disabilities, women, non-binary candidates, and LGBTQIA candidates to apply.

What are the logistics?

  • Location: This position is based in our Washington, D.C. office, and will support the work of a team that's half DC-based and half remote.

  • Compensation range: Salary commensurate with experience, from $45,000 to $50,000, plus bonus potential.

  • Benefits: We offer a 100% premium-covered health and dental care package, 401(k) (with matching) after one year, a professional development fund, and generous parental leave.

  • Physical requirements: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, and lifting up to 10 pounds may be required. There will be long periods of sitting and screen use, and the majority of work will take place in an open office environment with exposure to possible allergens.

  • Application process: Applicants that move past the initial screen will be given a task to complete, after which we will have two rounds of interviews. We would like our new coordinator to start by mid-May.

  • Note: Unfortunately, at this time we cannot provide sponsorship for those requiring visas or work permits.
