DESCRIPTION
The Director of Advising works with the Office of the President and Political Department to align Way to Win's political priorities with our advising of individual and institutional donors. The Director of Advising also owns political communications — from the managing the PR team to positioning Way to Win leaders and grantees in the media landscape. This is a full-time position on a remote team requiring frequent domestic travel.
Responsibilities- Bottom lining relationship building and advising for individual donors that are members of Way to Win's community, including advising on member 501(c)(4), 501(c)(3), PAC, and candidate giving, to achieve the highest impact in accordance with Way to Win's strategy.
- Setting annual goals for revenue generation, donor recruitment and retention.
- Cultivating prospective donors and introducing them to Way to Win.
- Raising the organization's overhead expenses on an annual basis with the President and Vice Presidents.
- Generating alignment and new resources through partnerships with philanthropic institutions, funds, and mission-aligned businesses and brands
- Generating ideas and bottom lining project management for some materials for Way to Win's donors. This includes playing a role in drafting and editing emails, strategy memos, and talking points in response to a quick-shifting political landscape.
- Handling grant writing and reporting for funds received from institutions and other funds with such requirements
- Collaborating with the President and Vice-Presidents by helping correspond with Way to Win members about their individual and collective giving strategies.
- Maintaining key political relationships with party and movement leaders, in partnership with Way to Win's President and political department
- Offering input and support across organizational areas, as a member of Way to Win's senior and core team, including:
- Political strategy
- Organizational health and growth
- Community culture and programming
- Other programming, including digital, communications capacity for core partners, and more
- Handling grant writing and reporting for funds received from institutions and other funds with such requirements
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will be a progressive operative with at least five years of experience in donor organizing or philanthropy, and several years of experience with political campaigns.
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts while maintaining important and effective relationships
- Respected by stakeholders and trusted to lead
- Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of projects simultaneously
- Willingness to be bold and take risks
- Experience developing and managing organizational/campaign priorities, vision, budget, cash flow, and staff
- Demonstrate successful management of or participation in a coalition environment preferred
- Excellent writing and presentation skills
- Proficient in the use of Google Apps, MS Office, and Salesforce CRM.

COMPENSATION
