BerlinRosen, a leading strategic communications firm, is looking for a strategic, talented and committed individual to serve as its next Senior Account Executive. This position provides a unique opportunity to play a role on a talented and motivated team working on local issues in Los Angeles, issues and clients throughout California, and with major national progressive organizations on some of the highest-profile issues of our time.
In California, our team works with labor unions, foundations, nonprofits and civil rights and racial equity groups on issues related to racial, economic and environmental justice. We help our clients improve the lives of working people, raise wages, address inequality in our economy and political system and hold some of the country's largest corporations accountable to workers and communities.
The position is ideal for candidates with at least four years of relevant experience in progressive politics, strategic communications, media relations, advocacy, journalism, or a related field. A successful candidate will be comfortable pitching the media, developing creative strategy and executing sharp communications plans on deadline with high quality work.
Our Senior Account Executive will…
- Collaborate with colleagues to implement strategy and campaign planning for multiple client accounts, which could include California-specific work, entertainment and/or financial reform
- Engage and maintain strong relationships with key reporters covering politics, racial and economic justice, and entertainment
- Write and edit persuasive external and internal documents such as press releases, op-eds, fact sheets, talking points, editorial board memos, and communications plans
- Create compelling digital content
- Ideal candidates will have…
- 4+ years of relevant experience in progressive politics, strategic communications, media relations, advocacy, journalism, or a related field
- Knowledge of the current media landscape, particularly in Los Angeles and California, and a strong news sense
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a proven ability to produce sharp, engaging written content
- Facility with language and concepts related to the arts and culture space
- Understanding of how race and gender equality in politics, Hollywood and the non-profit spaces shape the economy
- Experience writing for the web (website copy, social media posts, articles etc.)
- Experience engaging with members of the media for both rapid response and long lead stories
- Strong organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail
- A knack for problem-solving under pressure
- The ability to handle multiple assignments at once, work quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
