BerlinRosen, a leading strategic communications firm, is looking for a new Account Coordinator to join our national division. This position provides a unique opportunity to play a role on a talented and motivated team working on local issues in Los Angeles, issues and clients throughout California, and with major national progressive organizations on some of the highest-profile issues of our time.
In California, our team works with labor unions, foundations, nonprofits and civil rights and racial equity groups on issues related to racial, economic and environmental justice. We help our clients improve the lives of working people, raise wages, address inequality in our economy and political system and hold some of the country's largest corporations accountable to workers and communities.
One year of experience in public relations or public affairs, media relations, journalism, or related field or some professional experience is required. A successful candidate will be well-organized and plug into a well-functioning and dynamic team.
BerlinRosen's clients are at the forefront of progressive work around racial justice and civil rights, low-wage worker advocacy, women's economic security, voting rights, the environment, affordable housing, human rights, LGBT issues, health care, education, money in politics and ending mass incarceration.
Ideal candidates will have...
- Internships and professional experience in fast-paced, high volume public relations firms, communications in progressive politics, non-profit communications, or media outlets;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Strong news sense and knowledge of the media and comfort pitching members of the media by phone and email;
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint;
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
- Problem solving skills in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at once, work quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- A sense of humor!
Additional, nice-to-have skills include:
- Experience developing and/or executing content strategies to support strategic campaigns;
- Proven ability to produce sharp, engaging writing for speeches and presentations;
- Experience managing media engagement for both rapid response and long lead stories;
- Experience writing for the web (website copy, social media posts, articles, etc.);
- Understanding of worker and civil rights movements.
