Come join the fight to flip Virginia's 100th District! Phil for Virginia is seeking hard-working, passionate individuals to join the team as Field Organizers. This highly competitive seat is a DLCC (Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee) spotlight race and a Crooked Media targeted race.
About Phil: Born and raised in Hampton Roads, Phil Hernandez attended public schools, and received a scholarship that made it possible for him to attend William & Mary and become the first in his family to graduate from college. Phil served as a Senior Policy Analyst in President Obama's White House Domestic Policy Council, and, while in law school, helped to pass legislation aimed at preventing homelessness. More recently, Phil worked as an attorney with a nonprofit organization and advocated for civil rights and the rights of working people.
Location: Accomack County & Northampton County
Tasks and Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers teams
Plan and execute phone banks, canvass launches, and voter registration drives
Organize other grassroots events as needed
Knock on doors and make phone calls
Utilize digital organizing tactics
Complete timely and accurate data entry
Attend community events
Application Requirements:
Ability to meet deadlines
Strong communication and listening skills
Creative problem-solving skills
Willing and able to work long hours and weekends to flip this district!
Demonstrated interest in politics and/or advocacy
Access to cell phone, laptop, a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation
Preferred Background and Experience:
Ties to Virginia and the Eastern Shore are preferred but not required. Fluent in Spanish a plus.
Familiarity with Votebuilder
This is a full-time position starting August 1 through November 2019. Salary: $3000/month. Extensive travel throughout the region is to be expected.
