Position Summary:
The Development team (referred to as Supporter Relations / SR) fuels LEE's growth and success by ensuring that the organization has the resources and network of supporters it needs to achieve its ambitious goals. The Coordinator, Development must be comfortable working against tight deadlines and able to prioritize and then execute against a diversity of responsibilities. A successful candidate will be a proactive, self-motivated individual with excellent attention to detail, able to work successfully independently and in a team setting. Professional written and interpersonal skills are essential. Preference will be given to candidates with event-experience.
Position Location: Chicago, IL
Travel Requirements: 10% for departmental meetings
Responsibilities:
Event Management: (40%)
- Manage RSVP process for Supporter Relations events from kick-off to wrap-up including invites, attendees, research and event follow-up
- Oversee vendor research and present proposals for selection to VP of Supporter Relations for Supporter Relations events.
- Event logistics including coordinating collateral, hospitality, flights, hotels, etc.
- Point person for day-of event management including coordination with hosts where necessary and vendor point-of-contact
Donor Prospecting and Research (25%)
- Execute prospecting research to identify viable donor prospects across portfolios including national, regional, and Spark.
- Create and implement strategy for prospect cultivation process through research, writing funder cheat sheets, and designing and developing engaging collateral to support meetings
- Maintain prospecting research in donor database
Website and Tech Maintenance (25%)
- Provide support for Manager, Supporter Relations Infrastructure and Operations' efforts to scale team infrastructure and systems, as needed
- Submit and manage tech support requests for the Supporter Relations team
- Create and pull reports as needed for funders
- Execute website updates as requested
Department Scheduling and Logistics (10%)
- Manage calendar and expenses for Vice President Supporter Relations
- Scheduling of departmental and cross-departmental meetings
- Note-taking and follow up from meetings
- Coordination with support staff in the Office of the Executive Director
- Ensuring all paperwork and grant documentation is entered into the appropriate database
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree
- One year of full time work experience
- Ability to manage, organize, plan and follow through on projects independently and/or under general guidance/supervision
- Effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies
- Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and confidential information with discretion and in a professional manner
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to provide logical, next steps towards action items
- Attention to detail and high-level of accuracy in work are mandatory
- Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE's theory of change
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two-three years of full-time work experience in nonprofit donor relations and development role, or at a grant awarding foundation
- Demonstrated proficiency in Salesforce CRM or equivalent development database and the use of databases to generate reports
- Ability to scale or make bodies of work more efficient through technology
- Knowledge of the education landscape and the issues associated with educational inequity
- Experience working on a geographically dispersed or virtual team/organization
