[jobsthatareLEFT by GAIN] End Citizens United Fall 2019 Internships

Interested in progressive politics and communications? Join End Citizens United's communications team this Fall and help us fight for meaningful campaign finance reform!

End Citizens United's mission is to combat Big Money in politics and dismantle our rigged political system by electing campaign finance reform champions and passing state ballot measures. These champions will work toward overturning Citizens United, ending unlimited money in politics, and ending Dark Money. We'll work toward the mission by: electing pro-reform candidates, raising the issue of money in politics as a national priority, and using grassroots membership to demonstrate political power on the issue of money in politics.

We are hiring for the follow PAID positions:

Communications Intern:

As a member of the communications team, you'll be working directly with us to help frame and shape the reform movement. Intern responsibilities include drafting press releases, monitoring breaking news, compiling news clips, writing op-eds, and getting a front row seat to progressive politics and campaigns. Interns will learn directly about how to deal with reporters on and off-the-record, the ins-and-outs of political communications.

Interns should be self-starters with an interest in progressive politics and campaigns. We are looking for organized individuals with strong writing skills and the ability to copy-edit and write creatively for a variety of audiences.

Political Intern:

The Political Intern's responsibilities will include tracking campaigns, drafting memorandums on candidates, and providing administrative support to the political department. Prospective interns should have a strong interest in reform and campaigns, be highly organized, and have a good attention to detail. Previous electoral experience is preferred, but not required.

Non-Federal Intern:

The Non-Federal Intern reports to the Director of Policy and Non-Federal Strategy and is responsible for various tasks that are essential to ECU's ongoing efforts to further the cause of campaign finance reform at the state level. These efforts will include but not be limited to: tracking policy and legislative developments, joining high-level campaign strategy discussions, and working on joint efforts between ECU and its organizational partners. Interns will also assist with administrative responsibilities.

Finance/Fundraising Intern: The Finance Intern will assist a small fundraising team with all facets of the political fundraising process, including donor outreach, research, database management, and administrative support. Previous experience in electoral politics is preferred, but not required. Applicants should be proficient in Google Suite platforms, have previous writing experience, a meticulous eye for data, and a commitment to End Citizens United's mission.

Interns will also benefit from the Intern Educational Program, which aims to educate interns on Democratic politics and the issue of reform while providing unique opportunities to hone their professional development skills. The program includes presentations with top Democratic professionals, tutorials on networking best practices, and discussions on themes within the reform movement. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to interact directly with and receive professional guidance from all members of ECU, and will gain strong experience in progressive campaigning.

Qualified applicants should submit a resume and cover letter to jobs@endcitizensunited.org with the name of the internship they are applying for in the subject line. Start and end dates are flexible, and a monthly stipend is provided.
