ANNOUNCEMENT OF OPEN POSITION

 

POSITION:                                           Manager of Organizer Development

REPORTS TO:                                     Vice President of Organizing

LOCATION:                                         Portland, OR or affiliate office

 

THE ROLE

Your role stands at the intersection of organizing and the fight to change the odds for historically underserved children and families. As a key member of Stand's Family Engagement & Organizing Team at a moment of tremendous need and opportunity, you will build on the progress to date to support a national organizing strategy capable of impacting local, state, and federal policy decisions and elections. THE ORGANIZATION

Stand is a non-profit education advocacy organization focused on ensuring all students receive a high quality, relevant education, especially those whose boundless potential is overlooked and under-tapped because of their skin color, zip code, first language, or disability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

o   Work with the National Family Engagement &Organizing (FE&O) team to develop departmental strategies and programs to support Stand for Children's mission;

o   Work with the National FE&O team to develop and implement an organizing strategy using an integrated approach that leverages offline organizing, digital organizing, and relational tactics;

o   Develop campaign and advocacy toolkits for supporter, volunteers, and staff in support of reaching impact and organizing goals;

o   Conduct webinar trainings on campaign and advocacy skills for supporters, volunteers, and staff;

o   Develop and manage our innovative training materials – including creating training videos and resources accessible for busy supporters and volunteers;

o   Provide guidance to supporters, volunteers, and staff on how to achieve Stand for Children's objectives in various states;

o   Serve as a liaison to other Stand for Children departments such as Tech, Talent, Marketing & Communication departments;

o   Provide logistical support as needed to carry out assigned programs and projects;

o   Provide other support to the National FE&O team including, but not limited to, project management, program support, content creation, and monthly reports on progress.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

o   Passionate and unwavering belief in Stand for Children's mission and strategy to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, graduate from high school prepared for and with access to college or career training;

o   4-5 years' experience in relational organizing, distributive leadership model, digital organizing, and volunteer management;

o   4-5 years' experience in electoral and/or issue advocacy campaigns, statewide a plus;

o   Demonstrated experience with organizing platforms such as Blue State Digital, peer-to-peer texting, NGP VAN/M'Insights as tools for strategic engagement, reporting, and accountability;

o   Demonstrated experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram;

o   Demonstrated experience with online tools such as Office Suite products (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive) and Google products;

o   Previous experience managing paid staff preferred;

o   Demonstrated experience in curriculum development for both staff and volunteers preferred;

o   Experience running trainings for staff and volunteers in person and online preferred;

o   Spanish fluency is a plus;

o   Ability to be in multiple locations in the course of a given day, the ability to transport items, and the ability to set up and take down meeting equipment (chairs, tables, projectors, screens, etc.); May require the ability to climb stairs.

 

Stand for Children consists of two separate entities. Stand for Children, Inc., a grassroots membership organization is exempt under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code, and Stand for Children Leadership Center, a leadership development organization is exempt under section 501(c)(3)
