Who We Are

Students for Education Reform Action Network (SFER AN) is a 501(c)4 nonprofit partner of SFER, seeking students interested in political advocacy work and educational justice to become Organizing Fellows in our 2018 Fellowship program. SFER AN trains and supports undergraduate students and community members to engage in direct, grassroots advocacy in order to close the academic opportunity gap in our K-12 system.

Organizing Fellows will work to increase civic engagement on local political issues and elections especially as it pertains to education. They will serve as advocates to help increase voter turnout for the upcoming elections by working with their team on direct voter outreach.

Job Duties:

  • Door to door canvassing to speak with voters about the upcoming election and issues at stake and to increase turnout in local elections

  • Identifying supporters through community outreach. Fellows will be able to strongly identify how to effectively engage voters and determine their primary concerns 

  • Data entry and analysis to ensure effective field program, individual and team goal attainment and support voter outreach efforts

  • Participate in regular team meetings and activities to continue to develop leadership skills and learn about local political arena

Qualifications: 

  • Strong communication and self-motivational skills, work ethic, and passion for local politics

  • Candidates must be able to work within a team in a fast pace, demanding work environment

  • Ability to stand on your feet for periods of time

  • Ability to communicate with diverse communities and leaders.

  • Experience meeting deadlines, metrics and multitasking ability

  • Previous canvassing experience, either in a paid or unpaid capacity, is a plus

Expectations: 

  • Organizing fellow position is Part time [15-30 hours] with flexible scheduling. 

  • Position pays $16/hour 

  • Working on weekends and weeknights to be expected

  • Fellows must have a means of transportation to and from the field office and turf


Date and Location: 

  • Program starts now until Nov 5

Must live near Denver with reliable transportation.
