Title: Director of Latinx & AAPI Community Engagement
The Iowa Democratic Party seeks a high-achieving individual to serve as Director of Latinx & AAPI Community Engagement to lead our community outreach efforts among key constituencies across the state.
The ideal candidate will have experience in grassroots organizing, voter engagement and outreach, coalition building, and communications with specific experience working with building coalitions within diverse communities.
This new position will report to the Party Affairs Director and will work with a wide variety of stakeholders including other IDP departments, our Constituency Caucus Chairs, and partner organization leaders.
Duties Include:
Create and implement a comprehensive constituency outreach and engagement plan in collaboration with IDP leadership, constituency caucus leaders, and partner organizations
Build coalitions and strategic partnerships with allied organizations to strengthen relationships with the IDP and to collaborate on community organizing opportunities
Work with IDP staff and Constituency Caucus Chairs to strengthen party relationships and outreach and to promote and provide Party resources to constituencies
Plan and participate in voter contact activities, trainings, local meetings, and other activities that build presence in constituencies across the state and increase engagement with the Party
Develop a 2020 Caucus education and turnout plan to increase caucus turnout among constituencies
Minimum Qualifications:
At least two cycles or two years of experience in grassroots community organizing or field organizing
Excellent writing, analytical, and public speaking skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment,
Comfortable working in a team environment while also self-motivated and able to meet goals
Computer proficiency and knowledge of Votebuilder preferred
Bilingual/Multilingual highly desired but not required,
Statewide travel is required
