Job Description: Finance Director D'Arrigo for Congress


Melanie D'Arrigo is a mom and community leader running for New York's Third Congressional District as a first-time candidate. Born and raised on Long Island, she is now raising her own family in Port Washington. Melanie is running to fight for all of us, not corporate donors. She supports Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, common sense gun reform, and womens' rights.


Melanie is challenging Rep. Tom Suozzi, the vice-chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus, a group of Democrats who take corporate campaign contributions to undercut House Democratic leadership and hand power to Republicans. We know we can win- with the right finance director helping us build the resources we need to power our operations.


The Finance Director will be responsible for getting us to our fundraising goal. Our opponent has raised millions from corporate donors, which make up a huge percentage of his contributors. Our power is with the working families of Long Island, who we need to support us with small contributions. 


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and executing events and other fundraising activities

  • Execute and manage donor research and expand candidate's new donor networks

  • Effectively managing and messaging the candidate in call time

  • Building and maintaining donor relationships 

  • Developing and executing strategic fundraising plans and meeting performance milestones, with continual progress toward larger organizational goals.  

  • Direct solicitations from state, local and national donors/networks through multiple channels 

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Prior fundraising experience

  • Good time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Social media skills

  • Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills – the ability to speak persuasively in a charged atmosphere

  • Effective computer skills, including Microsoft Office and NGP and Act Blue. 

  • Willing to work extensive hours, including nights and weekends with some travel

  • The ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines and handle regular challenges with a positive attitude

  • Committed to details, results, meeting goals, and consistent improvement


Location: New York's Third Congressional District stretches from northeast Queens to northwestern Suffolk county, with the northern half of Nassau County in between.
